PURPOSE: A natural preservative composition for food or wood containing a siegesbeckia glabrescens extract is provided to protect the food and the wood from food spoilage bacteria or wood rotting fungi. CONSTITUTION: A natural preservative composition for food or wood contains 0.1-10wt% of siegesbeckia glabrescens extract as an active ingredient for protecting the food and the wood from food spoilage bacteria or wood rotting fungi. The siegesbeckia glabrescens extract is extracted by using a solvent selected from the group consisting of anhydrous or hydrous alcohol with 1-4 carbons, glycerine, propylene glycol, butylene glycol, or water.
