<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new and improved medium stacking apparatus, capable of reducing cost, and capable of deciding the presence of medium stacking, even if a stacking table is placed in any position. <P>SOLUTION: The medium stacking apparatus includes a stacking table 164 on which media are stacked, an elastic member 163 for supporting the stacking table, and stacking table detection units 37a, 37b for detecting the lowering of the stacking table.
