<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an OLT for PON protection and an optical communication system with PON protection capable of switching a communication path in a short time when a communication path failure occurs. <P>SOLUTION: An optical communication system includes a plurality of optical transceivers for PON and a control circuit section capable of controlling all ONUs, connected to the optical transceivers for the PON, based on an administration table storing the information on the ONU grasped through a signal for a registration process or a propagation time measurement and a maintenance survey signal for each of the ONUs. An OLT performs failure recovery by switching a communication path within a predetermined period of time while the control circuit maintains the information stored in the administration table, when a failure of the optical transceiver for PON is detected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
