The mixer (18) has projections (20) uniformly distributed over its periphery for guiding a partial flow (12a) of primary current (12), and recesses for guiding partial flow (16a) of secondary current (16). The projections and the recesses are arranged adjacent to each other in circumferential direction and formed by opposite side walls, where the opposite side walls are formed asymmetrically. The asymmetric side walls are recess edges, and have a contour that is adapted to local flow conditions. The walls are formed by a concave side wall section and an opposite convex side wall section. An independent claim is also included for a fluid-flow machine comprising a bloom mixer.
