<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rear cushion unit that is achieved in the most suitable attenuation characteristic for suppressing the vibration of a vehicle body of a two-wheeled vehicle, and can obtain favorable riding feeling. <P>SOLUTION: The rear cushion unit includes: a housing 6 which forms a pressure chamber C; a free piston 9 which is slidably inserted into the pressure chamber C, and partitions the pressure chamber into an elongation-side pressure chamber 7 and a pressure-side pressure chamber 8; an elongation-side passage 10 which makes an elongation-side chamber R1 and the elongation-side pressure chamber 7 communicate with each other; a pressure-side passage 11 which makes a pressure-side chamber R2 and the pressure-side pressure chamber 8 communicate with each other; a spring element 12 which exerts a biasing force for suppressing displacement with respect to the housing 6 of the free piston 9; and a variable valve 13 which is arranged in the middle of the elongation-side passage 10, and makes the passage resistance of the elongation-side passage 10 variable.
