Provided are a nonwoven fabric and a method of manufacturing the same, capable of preventing so-called rewetting back, that is permeation of liquid absorbed by an absorber to the surface. This nonwoven fabric (1) has an MD direction, a CD direction and a thickness direction, which are perpendicular to one another, and has a front surface and a rear surface on the reverse side to the front surface. The front surface has formed thereon ridges (2) and troughs (13a) extending in parallel with each other in the MD direction and arranged alternately in a manner repeating rises and falls in the CD direction. The rear surface has formed thereon a rear surface part (3) over the entire rear surface. The ridges (2) each have a ridge tip (21) at the top (2a) of the ridge (2) and a neck (22) connecting the ridge tip (21) and the rear surface part (3). In the cross-sectional surface in the CD direction of each ridge (2), the cross-section width at the neck (22) is smaller than that at the ridge tip (21). Each trough (13a) has a space defined by two necks (22) supporting adjacent ridge tips (21) and the rear surface part (3).
