<p>Provided is a hinge assembly which includes a fixed tube, a shaft, and a torque generating mechanism. The torque generating mechanism makes use of frictional resistance to generate torque when the shaft rotates inside the fixed tube, wherein within the range of rotational angles in which a pivotable unit is closed downwardly by a predetermined angle from the maximum open position, the pivotable unit can be held steplessly at an arbitrarily chosen position, whereas at a closed position beyond the range of rotational angles, the pivotable unit, which is so set that the force produced by the weight thereof for closing the same exceeds the torque, is slowly closed.</p> |
