摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrial x-ray tube that is small in size and lightweight, and provides a large X-ray emission amount. <P>SOLUTION: An industrial X-ray tube 1 houses a cathode 4A and an anode 6 inside a container 2 in which the interior is vacuated, and generates X-rays from the anode by applying electrons generated in the cathode 4A to the anode 6. The cathode 4A is formed by graphite. This graphite is a layered crystal in which a plurality of carbon hexagonal mesh faces are stacked. The layer growth direction of this graphite is the direction of the c-axis of a crystal axis. The graphite is cut based on a crystal axis of the carbon hexagonal mesh face, and the cut surface is defined as an electron emission face. For example, the directions of the a-axis and b-axis of crystal axes are set so as to be any direction among carbon hexagonal mesh faces, the graphite is cut by a plane parallel to the c-axis, and the cut surface can be defined as an electron emission face.
