<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor having improved uniformity in potential characteristics thereof while showing a distribution in an axial direction of surface characteristics, and thereby, achieving both of improving scratch resistance performance and securing a cleaning latitude. <P>SOLUTION: An electrophotographic apparatus is provided, including an electrophotographic photoreceptor having at least a photoconductive layer and a surface layer containing hydrogenated amorphous silicon carbide. In the surface layer, the sum of the atomic density of silicon atoms and the atomic density of carbon atoms increases by 3% or more from one end to the other end. The end of the photoreceptor having the larger sum of the atomic density of silicon atoms and the atomic density oxygen atoms is disposed in a leading side in a direction of dismounting the electrophotographic photoreceptor in the electrophotographic apparatus. In the surface layer, a ratio of the number of atoms of the carbon atoms to the sum of the number of atoms of silicon atoms and of carbon atoms is 0.60 or more and 0.78 or less. The difference between the maximum and minimum in the axial direction of the photoreceptor is within 10% with respect to the average. In the surface layer, the difference between the maximum and minimum of the film thickness in the axial direction of the photoreceptor is within 10% with respect to the average. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
