<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a clinch, a chafer or a sidewall, capable of improving fuel economy, elongation at break, and abrasion resistance in good balance while maintaining good handling stability (hardness) and processability (extrusion processability) even if the amount of zinc oxide is decreased; and to provide a pneumatic tire having a clinch, a chafer and/or a sidewall produced therefrom. <P>SOLUTION: This invention relates to a rubber composition for a clinch, a chafer or a sidewall, wherein the amount of the compound represented by formula (I) is 0.2-6 pts.mass, and the amount of the zinc oxide is ≤1.0 pt.mass, for a 100 pts.mass rubber component.
