<p>A spacing device (10) is provided for spacing reinforcement (13) or tie (14) rods 5 in a settable construction structure. The device has an outer ring member (22), an inner hub (24) having a hub wall (30) configured to form an opening (26) and a gap (28) in communication with the opening, spaced spokes (32) extending between the ring member and the hub, and a mouth (36) formed between guide plates (34) which extend from the ring member towards the opening. The 10 reinforcement or tie rod can enter through said gap into the opening. The body may be shaped so that at least one of its sides projects along a plane which tapers axially outwardly from the ring member to the hub, and/or may be formed of a compound which expands when exposed to temperatures above a predetermined value. A clip (60) is also provided for retaining a spacing device 15 about a reinforcement or tie rod. The clip comprises a head part (62), a prong and spaced flanges (66) extending from said head part. The prong is for engaging free ends of the guide plates, and the flanges are for respectively engaging side faces of said guide plates.</p> |
