PURPOSE:To provide a sliding member excellent in durability without a lubricant by molding a heat-resisting material together with a reinforcing material comprising a reticular substance in order to obtain a base metal and by uniformly coating the surface of the base metal with a lubricating composition. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of one or more then two kinds of heat-resisting materials formed of expansive graphite, mica, asbestos and so on is molded together with a reinforcing material comprising a metallic fiber, a fine wire or a rope formed by weaving or knitting these fibers or wires to form a sliding base metal. The surface of the base metal is coated with a lubricating composition formed of a quadrivalent ethylene fluoride resin. In this case, it is desirable to use stainless steel as the above metal and to use a copolymer of quadrivalent ethylene fluoride and sexivalent propylene fluoride. |
