The present invention provides a method for directly in situ preparing a cyclopropene compound which suppresses the action of ethylene accelerating maturation and aging processes of plants, by the reaction of a cyclopropene precursor such as a compound of formula (2) or (3) in the specification and a fluoride anion material, and instantly adding the same to plants, and an 1-alkylcyclopropene compound containing an aryl group such as a compound of formula (6) effective for the method.
