<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a forward movement determination apparatus for a vehicle and a forward movement determination method of the vehicle in which an accuracy in determining whether the vehicle is moving forward can be improved. <P>SOLUTION: A brake ECU acquires an engine speed Ne and a wheel velocity VW of driving wheels (steps S11, S13) and arithmetically operates an estimate gear change ratio Rge on the basis of the engine speed Ne and the wheel velocity VW of the driving wheels (a step S15). In the case where it is determined that a gear change step of a gear change device is set to a gear change step for forward movement on the basis of the estimate gear change ratio Rge (a step S16: YES) and where it is determined that a vehicle is being accelerated (steps S22, S25: YES), the brake ECU sets a forward movement determination flag FLG to "1" (a step S26). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
