The method involves guiding an inner pipe into an outer pipe. Ends of the pipes are closed, and two end terminals of the pipes are connected with a hydraulic system that conveys hydraulic fluid i.e. water, into the inner pipe under pressure. Hydraulic pressure is applied to the inner pipe so that the pipes are expanded. The pipes are decompressed so that the outer pipe resiliently springs back on the inner pipe for creating an actuated slip joint. The fluid is removed from the inner pipe, the two end terminals are removed from the hydraulic system, and the pipe ends are opened. An independent claim is also included for a device for manufacturing bimetal pipes.
