PURPOSE: A 3D sonography system and an operation method thereof are provided to measure the thickness of the circumference of a neck based on a fixed seed by establishing the seed around the circumference of the neck of a fetus. CONSTITUTION: An image acquisition part(210) obtains an elasticity image by confirming the deformation of an object by using a ultrasonic signal. A region divider(220) divides the elasticity image into a plurality of elastic regions. An elimination control part(230) eliminates the elastic region having nothing to do with the object among the plurality of elastic regions. A establishment part(250) establishes a seed around the placenta of a fetus in the elasticity image. A sagittal view determination part(240) determines a sagittal view regarding a ultrasonic imager corresponding to the elasticity image of the fetus. A measuring part(260) measures the thickness of the circumference of a neck based on the seed which is established.
