PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulated wire which can make the corona discharge starting voltage high, and can satisfy the demand characteristics such as heat resistance and mechanical strength, and to provide a resin material using the same.

SOLUTION: The insulated wire includes a conductor and a monolayer or multilayer insulating layer which covers the conductor, wherein the insulating layer includes a first resin layer formed by applying a resin in which a polyamideimide or polyesterimide (A) is mixed with an isocyanate modified polyphenylene ether (B) by the ratio (mass ratio) of A:B=50:50-95:5 to be burned. The isocyanate-modified polyphenylene ether is obtained by reacting a polyphenylene ether with a diisocyanate compound.
