<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image transmission device allowing instant confirmation of the impression of an image to be actually output without performing complicated operation in a plurality of operation modes in an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: An image formation apparatus 100 is provided with an operation unit 120 that comprises: a document reading unit 102; storage means 105 for storing image data; image output means 107; display image generating means 137 for generating the display image, a display panel 132, and an operation unit-side control unit 131 which displays, as the preview image, a display image on the display panel 132. As the configuration of the display image generating means 137, there is provided a function for generating the display image obtained by controlling the color tone of the image data stored in the storage means 105 in accordance with an operation mode selected from among the plurality of operation modes.
