The truck has a hydraulic cylinder comprising a piston rod (12) and a cylinder jacket (10), in which the piston rod is fed. An optical sensor (36) i.e. incremental operating sensor, is provided in a head (28) of the hydraulic cylinder, and equipped with a light source i.e. laser diode, aligned to the piston rod, and a receiver for reflecting light. The optical sensor detects movement of the piston rod relative to the optical sensor using the light reflected to the receiver. A circumferential seal seals an intermediate chamber between the piston rod and an inner chamber of the cylinder jacket.
