<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector with a color wheel capable of being used for both a case where color reproducibility is important and a case where brightness is important by simple means without increasing its size. <P>SOLUTION: A projector of the present invention includes a light source 1 for generating white spot light 13, a color wheel unit 20 for time-dividing the white spot light 13 from the light source 1 into plural colors of light; and a modulator 5 for successively performing optical modulation of the time-divided plural colors of light. The color wheel unit 20 includes a color wheel 21 and a wheel motor 22 for rotating the color wheel 21. The color wheel 21 is formed so that spaces between transmission regions provided with R, G and B filters can be selected to be a high luminance pattern by forming transmission regions of white light at the spaces, or to be a high color pattern by providing complementary color filters to the spaces. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
