Disclosed is a method for locating a video clip, comprising: receiving a target dialogue that a user searches for in a video; determining subtitle data matching the target dialogue according to a preset matching rule; and determining a location of a video clip corresponding to the target dialogue in the video according to the matched subtitle data. Further disclosed is a device for locating a video clip. The method and the device enable the user to start viewing a video from a video clip corresponding to a dialogue after the user inputs the dialogue that the user intends to view, thereby saving the time for the user to search for the video clip manually, and improving the video viewing experience of the user.
