The appliance has a drain line (9) through which excess flushing liquid is conveyable from the appliance, where the drain line is connected with a sewerage system (1) by a junction (23). A sensor element (30) e.g. reed switch, Hall sensor and pressure sensor, is arranged at the junction between the drain line and a water supply system or the sewerage system for detecting incorrect connection of the drain line. The sensor element stands in signal connection with a control device (11) that deactivates the appliance during detection of the incorrect connection.
