摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure health monitoring system for a marine composite riser sequence. <P>SOLUTION: Respective riser pipe sections 31 include cylindrical shapes having axes A and carbon epoxy base materials 37. A sensor 38 is correlated with the riser pipe section and encircles the riser pipe section by virtually circumscribing it. The sensor includes polyvinylidene laminates 35 and electrodes 36, and generates electricity to the electrodes in response to mechanical stress and distortion in riser sections including vibration. The system includes a data collection system and a digital signal analyzer for analyzing a signal in response to electricity generated to the electrodes of the sensor and performing health monitoring and damage detection for a marine riser pipe sequence.
