SOFT START METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR A BIDIRECTIONAL DC TO DC CONVERTER

PURPOSE: A soft start method and apparatus for a bidirectional dc to dc converter are provided to avoid the reverse transient inductor during startup by using a soft start circuit. CONSTITUTION: A system(100) includes a soft start circuit(102) combined with an input stage(110) of a bidirectional DC-DC converter(104). The bidirectional DC-DC converter includes insulated or/and insulated topologies. The input stage of the bidirectional DC-DC converter includes two synchronous switches(114) driven by a PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) signal of a PWM signal generator(106). The input stage is combined with an output voltage in an output stage(112). The soft start circuit generates the output signal based on the PWM signal offered by the PWM signal generator.
