Disclosed are a method and device for modulation, wherein the modulation method comprises the steps of: carrying out a first constellation mapping on a plurality of first bit groups in a bit sequence respectively to obtain a plurality of first constellation symbols corresponding respectively to each of the bit groups so mapped; carrying out a second constellation mapping on at least one bit group in a plurality of second bit groups in the bit sequence to obtain at least one second constellation symbol corresponding respectively to each of the bit groups so mapped; wherein, the mode of the second constellation mapping is different from that of the first constellation mapping; and the plurality of first constellation symbols obtained and the at least one second constellation symbol are loaded into a corresponding communication resource for transmission. The embodiments of the present invention change the Euclidean distances of at least one bit between various corresponding points on the constellation map by changing the constellation mapping, which can not only achieve diversity gain but can also improve the receiving performance when a receiving end uses Euclidean distance-based joint detection.
