<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric converter capable of detecting light from faint light to strong light. <P>SOLUTION: The photoelectric converter has a photodiode having a photoelectric conversion layer, an amplifying circuit including a transistor, and a switch. When strength of incident light is smaller than prescribed strength, the photodiode and the amplifying circuit are electrically connected by the switch and light current is amplified by the amplifying circuit and output. When the strength of incident light is larger than the prescribed strength, the switch electrically separates the photodiode and a part of or the whole of the amplifying circuit, lowers amplification factor of the light current and outputs it.
