<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display controller capable of sharing an inexpensive chip between display controllers having mutually different resolution. <P>SOLUTION: A display controller, supporting a first resolution display, includes display controller chips 1 to 4 each of which can only support up to a second resolution display that is a lower resolution display than the first resolution display, with the chips 1 to 4 repeating a cycle of sequentially storing individual pieces of pixel data in video memories VM1 to VM4 respectively corresponding to the chips 1 to 4 by units respectively predetermined therefor, the pixel data having a continuous address viewed from a CPU 6, thereby storing the image data respectively in the video memories VM1 to VM4.
