The present invention provides an air electrode for a lithium air battery, which comprises a current collector and a catalyst carried on the current collector by an in-situ composite method. A methed of making the air electrode for a lithium air battery and a lithium air battery comprising the air electrode are also provided. The air electrode of the invention can considerably improve performances of the lithium air battery.
