<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single crystal for scintillators suitably applicable to a radiation detector, and having a short fluorescence lifetime. <P>SOLUTION: The garnet type crystal for the scintillators includes a fluorescence component represented by general formula (1): Gd<SB POS="POST">3-x-y</SB>Pr<SB POS="POST">x</SB>RE<SB POS="POST">y</SB>Al<SB POS="POST">5-z</SB>M<SB POS="POST">z</SB>O<SB POS="POST">12</SB>(1) (wherein, 0.0001≤x≤0.15; 0.6≤y≤2.8; 0≤z≤4.8; M is at least one kind selected from among Ga and Sc; and RE is at least kind one selected from among Y, Yb and Lu), and having the fluorescence lifetime of ≤25 nanoseconds. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
