The conveyor system (FS) comprises storage (S) of variable capacity and guides (F1,F2) which run adjacently parallel to each other. The guides are provided with traction elements (Z1,Z2) driven by a conveyor drive of the conveyor system. A strand of a bottle carrier-chain guides a certain distance along the traction elements and is drivable in contact with the traction elements by multiple form-fitting or magnetic locking couplings (C1-C3).
