PURPOSE: A method for transmitting and receiving a media information file for http streaming is provided to reduce an initial transmission delay during HTTP streaming. CONSTITUTION: When a server detects streaming service start, the server transmits a meta media information file and a sub media information file corresponding to a first section to the client(603,604). If a request for transmitting multimedia content is received from the client, the server transmits a segment corresponding to a required time by referring to the meta media information file.
