PURPOSE: An optical power calibration device of rewritable optical disc and a method thereof are provided to write useful information related to OPC(Optical Power Calibration) in a test zone, thereby applying an optimal optical power value without additional OPC by reading the useful information following an OPC mode. CONSTITUTION: When useful information is written in a first test zone, a control unit reads the useful information(S13,S14). The control unit determines the validity of the useful information(S15). When the useful information is valid, the control unit quickly applies the optimal optical power value which is read as the useful information without additional OPC(S16,S17).
