Flame retardant wood material comprises a flame retardant comprising at least one tetraalkyl bisphosphate compound (I). Flame retardant wood material comprises a flame retardant comprising at least one tetraalkyl bisphosphate compound of formula (R1-O-P(=O)(O)(R2)-O-A-O-P(=O)(O)(R3)-O-R4) (I). R1-R4 : 1-8C alkyl or 1-4C alkoxyethyl; A : 4-20C alkylene (optionally branched and/or cyclic), (-CH 2-CH=CH-CH 2-), (-CH 2-CC-CH2-), (-CHR5-CHR6-(O-CHR7-CHR8) a-), (-CHR5-CHR6-S(O) b-CHR7-CHR8-) or (-(CHR5-CHR6) c-O-R9-O-(CHR7-CHR8) d; a, c, d : 1-5; b : 0-2; R5-R8 : H or CH 3; R9 : (-CH 2-CH=CH-CH 2-), (-CH 2-CC-CH 2-), 1,2-phenylene, 1,3-phenylene, 1,4-phenylene, methylene-bis(benzene-4,1-diyl) moiety of formula (Ia), methylene-bis(cyclohexane-4,1-diyl) moiety of formula (Ib), sulfonyl-bis(4,1-phenylene) or (-C(=O)-R12-C(=O)-); either R10, R11 : H or 1-4C alkyl; or R10+R11 : 4-8C ring (optionally substituted by alkyl); and R12 : 2-8C alkylene (optionally branched and/or cyclic), 1,2-phenylene, 1,3-phenylene or 1,4-phenylene. Independent claims are also included for: (1) an agent for producing the flame retardant wood material, comprising at least one tetraalkyl bisphosphate (I); and (2) equipping flame retardant in wood material, comprising treating wood blanks, wood particles or wood semi-finished products with tetraalkyl bisphosphate (I).
