PRODUCTION OF GYNOSTEMMA PENTAPHYLLUM BY TISSUE CULTURE

PURPOSE:To produce Gynostemma pentaphyllum having uniform texture and high quality comparable to naturally grown Gynostemma pentaphyllum, efficiently in a short time, by the tissue culture of a callus induced from the living tissue of Gynostemma pentaphyllum. CONSTITUTION:A living tissue such as young stalk or leaf of Gynostemma pentaphyllum is cultured in a conventional medium for the tissue culture of plant optionally added with a plant hormone such as auxin, cytokinin, etc. The induced callus is transplanted in a solid medium such as agar medium or a liquid medium and cultured preferably by the suspension cultivation process.
