摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small lamp unit 100 having a small reflector 130 and capable of radiating the heat of a discharge lamp 120 with comparatively high efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The lamp unit 100 comprises the discharge lamp 120 and a reflector 130. The direction in which the discharge lamp 120 is disposed is such that the lengthwise direction of the discharge lamp 120 is perpendicular to the optical axis of the reflector 130. Notch parts 135 are formed in the sides of the reflector 130, and a mouth piece 125 is disposed so as to project from the notch part 135. The reflector 130 includes a front reflector 131 that has a spherical internal face, and a rear reflector 133 that has an ellipsoid of revolution. The front reflector 131 has a light guide hole 140. The bright spot of the discharge lamp 120 is disposed at the center of the curvature of the internal face of the front reflector 131.
