The method involves forming a funnel-shaped sleeve from a flat material blank with an outlet opening (10), an inlet opening (11) and an opening angle. The funnel-shaped sleeve is compressed in a region by expansion of the opening angle. A region adjacent to the outlet opening is constricted during compression such that a cylindrical outlet portion (12) is created. The sleeve is fixed between two complementary tool parts moved relative to each other along an axial direction of the sleeve during compression. The tool parts are deformed along the axial direction by feed movement. An independent claim is also included for a tool for executing a method for manufacturing a funnel from flat material.
