This device comprises a frame intended to be fixed to the upper part of a wall 2 or to a ceiling, and a border section 4 intended to be fixed to the periphery of a sheet-like flexible material 5 forming a false ceiling, the said frame consisting of several sections 1 arranged end to end, each section of the frame having, when seen in cross-section, a first horizontal flange 1b, a second flange 1c which extends downwards from the first flange, and at least a first part 1d in the shape of a hook, in which the border section 4, itself hook-shaped, may be engaged. The said first hook-shaped part 1d is located at the lower part of the second flange 1c, on the side of the latter which is directed towards the wall 2, and is connected to the said lower part by a surface 7 having no projecting sharp edge, and the border section 4 has, when seen in cross-section, substantially the shape of an anchor. <IMAGE>
