Motor vehicle with automatic transmission and a gear-change arrangement which has a selector lever and an associated shift gate with at least two shift slots, between which the selector lever can be moved in a predetermined position and, when it engages in one shift slot, is coupled to a gear-change linkage. According to the invention, the selector lever can be decoupled from the gear-change linkage by being moved from one shift slot to the other shift slot and coupled to a changeover device with a spring-latched centre position. The changeover device advances a step-by-step control of the gear-change arrangement. This provides the possibility of choosing between automatic gear changing and a manual gear-change programme with a minimum of selector-lever positions required for this purpose.
