PURPOSE: A backlight unit and a liquid crystal display device including the same are provided to increase the brightness of a backlight unit by including the structure of a light guide plate. CONSTITUTION: Light is incident to a light guide plate(30) from light source. A pattern having a plurality of protrusion units includes a light incoming unit. The protrusion unit has an incline surface. The incline surface includes a first incline surface which is close to the center of the light incoming unit and a second incline surface which is close to the light incoming unit.
