Provided are an airbag device which ensures stable expansion of the airbag without a significant increase in cost, and a housing used for the airbag device. An airbag device for a front passenger seat, mounted within the instrument panel, wherein the airbag device is provided with: an airbag contained in an inflatable and expandable state; a housing for containing the airbag; and a gas generator affixed to the housing and supplying an inflating gas to the airbag. The housing is provided with a first member which is formed in a frame-like shape having open upper and bottom surfaces and to which the gas generator is affixed, and also with a second member which is connected to the first member and holds the airbag at at least a position below the bottom surface of the first member. The gas generator is disposed so as to be offset to the vicinity of a side surface of the first member. |
