PURPOSE: A power amplifier power consumption controlling method of a base station and an apparatus thereof are provided to enable a power amplifier of a base station to operate at maximum efficiency when changing RF(Radio Frequency) output power. CONSTITUTION: A controller(210) outputs symbol information to which use data is not allocated by using scheduling information. An RF unit(240) receives the symbol information to which user data is not allocated. The RF unit turns off bias which is applied to a power amplifier. The controller includes a scheduler, a symbol information obtaining unit, and a modem. The modem outputs the symbol information to the RF unit.
