<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to change PSP setting as needed. <P>SOLUTION: A system and a method by this invention provide a design logic that extends distributed scan management (DSM) by integrating the scan setting functions of a network scanner (NW scanner) with a DSM function, and enhance the function of the DSM by providing means for quickly locating a post scan process (PSP) based on a specified retrieval condition. The NW scanner is controllable via the PSP of a DSM protocol. A U/I of the NW scanner receives login information of a user that is used to grant access to the PSP. The NW scanner includes a storage module for storing instructions, and the instruction makes a processor determine whether or not the accessed PSP has settings that are overwritable and instructs the processor to present the accessed PSP so as to be selected by the user.
