<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide inspection equipment or an inspection method of a magnetic head or magnetic disk capable of forming a servo pattern applicable to a shingled-write recording method, and a recording device and recording method of a magnetic disk. <P>SOLUTION: In inspection or recording of a magnetic disk including: rotating the magnetic disk; writing a servo pattern in a servo pattern region of the magnetic disk by a write element of a magnetic head; reading the servo pattern written in a servo pattern region of the magnetic disk by the write element of the magnetic head; and performing servo following of the position of the magnetic head on the magnetic disk based on the servo pattern, the servo pattern has a plurality of patterns, and the patterns are written by a first frequency for performing the servo following of the patterns.
