<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve cooling performance of a device cooling a linear motor where a moving portion has a coil. <P>SOLUTION: A cylindrical coil 32 is covered with respective heat collection portions 66 of two heat sinks 64 and is covered with a resin mold 40. Heat radiation portions 68 extended in a direction receding from a center line of the coil 32 from the heat collection portions 66 are projected outside the resin mold 40, and fins 78 are arranged in both upper/lower faces 80 and 82 of projection portions 74. Ducts 86 are installed along a stator 14 in a still state so that they cover a moving space of the heat radiation portions 68 and the fins 78. Fans are disposed on both ends of the duct 86. Heat generated in the coil 32 is collected by the heat collection portions 66 when a needle 16 moves, and the heat is radiated from the heat radiation portions 68 and the fins 78. Heat transmission to a peripheral member is prevented by the duct 86 and the fins 78 are cooled by cooling air caused in the duct 86 by the fan, and air at a high temperature in the duct 86 is compulsorily discharged.
