ELECTRONIC KEY AND ELECTRONIC KEY SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable another person to use a specified vehicle even when a user of the vehicle is at a location away from the vehicle in the state of holding a key of the vehicle.

SOLUTION: Electronic keys 1 and 2 have a short distance radio communication function capable of transmitting and receiving key information to/from portable communication terminals 3 and 4. The key information of a specified vehicle 6 provided in the electronic key 1 on the side of a transmitter A is received by the portable communication terminal 3 on the side of the transmitter A by the short distance radio communication. Then, the key information is transmitted to the portable communication terminal 4 on the side of a receiver B by the portable communication terminal 3 on the side of the transmitter A. Then, the key information received by the portable communication terminal 4 on the side of the receiver B is transmitted to the electronic key 2 on the side of the receiver B by the short distance radio communication. Thus, the electronic key 2 on the side of the receiver B can be used as a key of the specified vehicle 6.
