The encapsulated internal-combustion engine is contained in a housing only partly filled with cooling liquid and accommodating a heat exchanger with external unions for a medium to be heated. The engine (2) has an internal liquid-cooling system with suction opening (12) for the cooling liquid (4) inside the housing (1). This opening is so situated in relation to the heat exchanger (9) that the incombing liquid flows through the latter. ADVANTAGE - Simplicity and improved cooling effect.
