<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide image forming apparatus capable of restraining a density decrease in a registration correction pattern due to environmental fluctuation and degradation of durability as well as restraining a reduction in accuracy of registration correction due to the density decrease in the registration correction pattern. <P>SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus, at least one of a plurality of image forming sections is configured to have different values for a first light intensity which is an intensity of a laser beam used to form a pattern for color shift detection and for a second light intensity which is the intensity of the laser beam used to form an image based on image data input through an external device or a reading device.
