METHOD FOR REGENERATING RECOVERED POLYESTER RESIN AND MOLDED ARTICLE USING RECYCLED POLYESTER RESIN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for regenerating recovered polyester resin by which the intrinsic viscosity and acid value of the recovered polyester resin are made comparable to those of virgin polyester resin needed in application where high durability and hydrolysis resistance are required, so that the recovered polyester resin can be used even in such application.

SOLUTION: The method for regenerating recovered polyester resin includes subjecting the recovered polyester resin to solid phase polymerization after heat treatment at a temperature below the melting point of the polyester in the presence of ethylene glycol. It is preferable that the regenerated polyester is provided with an intrinsic viscosity (IV) of ≥0.60 dl/g and an acid value (AV) of ≤10 eq/t.
