<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make toner suitable for fixation to a recording medium by using a fixation liquid, to reduce electric power required for heating at fixation without limiting to liquid fixation, and to avoid image disturbance due to the fixation liquid, increase in electric power required for drying and time required for fixation, adverse influence to members in the device, and unevenness of fixation liquid amount to be applied to the recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: The fixation liquid containing a plasticizer for swelling and softening the toner to make the toner into a state suitable for fixation to a medium S is applied to the medium S before carrying a toner image, a toner image on a toner image carrier 11 is transferred to the medium S after being applied with the fixation liquid while bringing the toner image into contact with the fixation liquid on the medium S, and the toner image is fixed on the medium S by making the toner into the state while heating the toner image on the medium S and the fixation liquid. The fixation liquid is delivered to an application member 44 for applying the fixation liquid to the recording medium S from delivery means 56 at a delivery section D.
