<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manuscript read apparatus which can measure optical transmittance of a reading target manuscript without increase in manufacturing cost and the number of components. <P>SOLUTION: The manuscript read apparatus comprises an optical read part optically reading a first face and a second face of a manuscript and creating a first read image and a second read image each composed of pixel values respectively representing luminance, a representative value determination part dividing a region of the manuscript into a plurality of processing blocks and determining a representative value of the pixel values belonging to each of the processing blocks of the first read image and the second read image, a frequency distribution calculation part calculating frequency distribution obtained by tallying by the representative value of the first read image, the number of processing blocks each having the representative value of the first read image side indicating a first determination threshold value and over and the representative value of the second read image side indicating a second determination threshold value and under, and a transmittance estimation part estimating transmittance of the manuscript based on the frequency distribution. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
